The PR1001-R-200 is the standard Taq 2X Master Mix WITH Red Dye — sold as 200-reaction pack (4 × 1.25 mL tubes) per the Accuris Life Science Reagents Catalog. Same standard Taq chemistry as the PR1001-200 sister PLUS inert red gel loading dye explicitly included in the master mix formulation for direct gel loading without a separate loading-dye addition step. Same $95 list price (vs $94 for PR1001-200 standard variant) — the Red Dye carries no meaningful premium.
| SKU | PR1001-R-200 |
| Type | Single-tube 2X standard Taq master mix with inert red gel loading dye |
| Pack quantity | 200 reactions (4 × 1.25 mL tubes) |
| PCR mode | Standard endpoint Taq (non-hot-start, non-HF) |
| Master mix composition | Taq DNA Polymerase + buffer with PCR enhancers + 2 mM dNTPs + 6 mM MgCl₂ + inert red gel loading dye (explicitly included) |
| Workflow advantage | Direct gel loading — no separate loading-dye addition step needed |
| Per-reaction cost | $0.48 per reaction (vs $0.47 for PR1001-200 — essentially identical) |
| Standard sister | PR1001-200 (same 200 rxn pack, $94, no Red Dye) |
| Larger pack | PR1001-R-1000 (1000 reactions) |
| Sample | PR1001-R-S (5 reactions, $7.65) |
| List price | $95 |
The standard PCR-to-gel workflow has two pipetting steps after thermal cycling:
The Red Dye master mix eliminates step 1 — the loading dye is already in the PCR product because it was part of the 2X master mix from the start. After thermal cycling, the operator can load the PCR product directly onto the gel without a separate loading-dye addition step.
Workflow benefits:
Trade-off: The Red Dye is inert during PCR — it does not affect the polymerase activity or PCR product integrity per Accuris design. However, some downstream workflows (sequencing, cloning, fluorescence-based detection) may not be compatible with PCR products containing the loading dye.
| Downstream workflow | Red Dye compatible? | Recommended SKU |
| Direct gel loading and analysis | Yes — primary use case | PR1001-R-200 (this product) |
| Endpoint PCR + gel doc | Yes | PR1001-R-200 |
| High-throughput screening with gel readout | Yes | PR1001-R-200 |
| PCR for downstream sequencing | No — dye may interfere with sequencing chemistry | PR1001-200 (no dye) |
| PCR for downstream cloning | No — dye may interfere with ligation efficiency | PR1001-200 (no dye) |
| PCR for downstream fluorescence detection | No — dye may compete with target fluorescence | PR1001-200 (no dye) |
Mixed-workflow facilities may stock both variants — PR1001-200 for downstream-sensitive workflows + PR1001-R-200 for direct-gel-load screening. The price-equivalence of the two SKUs makes dual-stocking economically reasonable.
Per Accuris Life Science Reagents Catalog, Standard Taq Red Dye Master Mix supports the same applications as standard PR1001 master mix (Colony PCR, Fast PCR, Genotyping, High-throughput PCR, Routine PCR) plus the direct-gel-load workflow advantage.
High-throughput screening PCR with gel readout — the workhorse Red Dye application. Daily 100+ PCR product workflows where eliminating the loading-dye addition step matters.
Production-scale colony PCR screening — colony screening pipelines where the throughput justifies workflow-step optimization.
Multi-operator screening benches — facilities where multiple operators run high-throughput PCR benefit from both the master-mix format AND the Red Dye direct-gel-load workflow.
Routine endpoint PCR with gel readout — labs running standardized PCR-to-gel workflows benefit from the Red Dye workflow consistency.
Educational laboratory PCR exercises — teaching labs benefit from the simplified single-step workflow for student-cohort exercises.
Genotyping screens — endpoint PCR genotyping where the gel readout determines the genotype call.
Per-reaction workflow consumable. Same per-reaction usage as the standard PR1001-200 — 12.5 µL of 2X master mix per PCR reaction.
Storage. Same standard Taq reagent storage as the no-dye variant — confirm storage protocol at order.
Pair with template / primers / water. The master mix includes the polymerase + buffer + dNTPs + MgCl₂ + Red Dye; operator supplies template, primers, and water.
Confirm at quote: workflow direct-gel-load preference (PR1001-R vs PR1001 at essentially same price — purely a workflow-preference decision), downstream workflow Red Dye compatibility, throughput sizing (200-rxn vs 1000-rxn pack), and lead time.
Warranty: Per Accuris standard reagent terms — confirm at quote.
Accuris PR1001-R standard Taq Red Dye master mix family:
- PR1001-R-S — Sample, 5 reactions ($7.65)
- PR1001-R-200 (this product) — Standard Taq Master Mix + Red Dye, 200 reactions ($95)
- PR1001-R-1000 — Standard Taq Master Mix + Red Dye, 1000 reactions
Pick the Red Dye variant for direct-gel-load workflows; step to PR1001-200 (no dye, $94) when downstream workflow requires dye-free PCR product.
