The PR1000-500 is the smallest pack of the Accuris standard Taq DNA Polymerase family — 500 units of recombinant Taq DNA Polymerase at 5 U/μL for endpoint PCR workflows. The entry-pack format for research benches running occasional PCR, method-validation pilot work before committing to a larger procurement, or teaching-lab pilot exercises at smaller sample-cohort scale. Each kit ships with 1 tube of Taq DNA Polymerase (100 µL at 5 U/μL) + 4 tubes of 5X buffer containing PCR enhancers and 15 mM MgCl₂. dNTPs are sold separately.
| SKU | PR1000-500 |
| Type | Standard Taq DNA Polymerase (non-hot-start) |
| Quantity | 500 units (100 µL at 5 U/µL) |
| Polymerase concentration | 5 U/µL |
| Included buffer | 4 tubes of 5X buffer with PCR enhancers and 15 mM MgCl₂ |
| dNTPs | Not included — available separately (Accuris dNTP catalog, see Life Science Reagents Catalog page 7) |
| PCR mode | Endpoint PCR (standard Taq, not hot-start) |
| Larger pack sisters | PR1000-1000 (1,000 units), PR1000-6000 (6,000 units bulk) |
| Hot-start sister family | PR1000-HS (PR1000-HS-500 / PR1000-HS-1000 / PR1000-HS-6000) |
| High-fidelity sister family | PR1000-HF (PR1000-HF-200 / PR1000-HF-1000) |
| Returns | Non-returnable — perishable reagent per Accuris reagent-return policy |
Order PR1000-500 when:
For mid-throughput labs, the PR1000-1000 (1,000-unit pack) is the workhorse pick at better per-reaction economics. For high-throughput labs, the PR1000-6000 bulk pack delivers the lowest per-reaction cost.
| SKU | Units | Use case |
| PR1000-500 (this product) | 500 | Pilot / occasional / smallest pack |
| PR1000-1000 | 1,000 | Workhorse mid-throughput |
| PR1000-6000 | 6,000 | High-throughput / bulk-pack economics |
Standard PCR reaction uses ~1.25 U Taq per 50 µL reaction (2.5 µL of 5 U/µL diluted in master mix); 500 units supports approximately 400 reactions at standard reaction volume.
The PR1000 family ships in three enzyme variants for different workflow requirements:
| Variant | Hot-start? | Fidelity | When to pick |
| PR1000 Standard Taq (this product's family) | No | Standard | Routine endpoint PCR with reactions assembled on ice |
| PR1000-HS Hot Start Taq | Yes (antibody-mediated) | Standard | Reactions assembled at room temperature; reduced non-specific amplification; multiplex / GC-rich / low-copy PCR |
| PR1000-HF High Fidelity Taq | (No hot start by default) | High fidelity | Cloning, sequencing template prep, mutagenesis, microarray template prep — applications requiring low error rate |
Pick standard Taq (PR1000) for: routine, well-optimized endpoint PCR workflows where the lab can reliably assemble reactions on ice and where the polymerase fidelity / hot-start premium is not justified.
Per the Accuris Life Science Reagents Catalog ordering table, each PR1000-500 kit includes:
dNTPs are not included — order separately from the Accuris dNTP catalog (Life Science Reagents Catalog page 7) or supply from existing dNTP inventory. Plan procurement to include both reagents on the order.
The included 5X buffer brings reactions to 1X with 3 mM MgCl₂ at the standard buffer dilution. The buffer composition includes Accuris's PCR enhancer formulation (proprietary additives that improve performance with standard PCR templates).
For workflows requiring different MgCl₂ concentrations (e.g., difficult templates, GC-rich amplicons), supplemental MgCl₂ may be needed — order the supplemental MgCl₂ reagent separately or use the PR1001 master-mix family which includes pre-formulated MgCl₂ at 6 mM in the 2X master mix format.
Per the Accuris Life Science Reagents Catalog, standard Taq DNA Polymerase applications:
dNTP procurement. dNTPs are sold separately; plan to include both PR1000-500 and a dNTP mix on the order. Confirm Accuris dNTP catalog SKU at order, or use existing dNTP inventory.
Storage & handling. Per Accuris kit instructions — typical Taq polymerase storage at −20 °C with limited freeze-thaw cycle tolerance.
Hot-start vs standard verification. Confirm at order: the workflow assembles reactions on ice (standard Taq is fine) vs at room temperature (use the PR1000-HS hot-start variant instead).
Returns. Per the universe price-list category header: reagent products including PCR enzymes are non-returnable due to perishable nature.
Confirm at quote: workflow throughput (drives pack-size selection — 500 vs 1,000 vs 6,000 units), enzyme variant (standard vs hot-start vs high-fidelity), dNTP procurement, shipping conditions (cold-chain), and lead time.
Warranty: Per Accuris Life Science Reagents standard kit warranty terms — confirm at quote. Reagent batch lot numbers and expiration dates are documented per ship.
Accuris PR1000 Taq family:
- PR1000-500 (this product) — Standard Taq, 500 units (smallest pack)
- PR1000-1000 — Standard Taq, 1,000 units (workhorse)
- PR1000-6000 — Standard Taq, 6,000 units (bulk)
- PR1000-HS-* — Hot-start Taq family
- PR1000-HF-* — High-fidelity Taq family
Pick the 500-unit pack for pilot work, occasional use, or teaching-lab exercises. Step up to 1,000 / 6,000 units for higher-throughput workflows. Step to PR1000-HS for hot-start chemistry or PR1000-HF for high-fidelity applications.
