Z600-500-P 500 mL Perforated Centrifugal Basket (SIEVA-3 Accessory)

The Z600-500-P is the perforated 500 mL centrifugal basket for the Hermle SIEVA-3 filtration centrifuge series (Z600-S3, Z600-S3-TC). It is the primary working component of a SIEVA-3 filtration setup: lined with a defined-pore filter material (PP DWL, ordered separately at the workflow's target pore size), the basket drives the liquid phase through the filter and the basket wall, retaining the solid phase as a centrifuge cake on the filter surface. Without this basket, the SIEVA-3 chassis is just a drive with a chamber. With this basket, it becomes the production-relevant alternative to Buchner-funnel filtration for crystallizate isolation, slurry dewatering, API wash and recovery, and solid-liquid separation across pharmaceutical, fine-chemical, biotechnology, and food-science workflows.

Compatibility & Configuration

Chassis compatibility — SIEVA-3 family only. This basket fits the Z600-S3 series filtration centrifuges. It is not interchangeable with Z327, Z446, Z366, Z216 or other Hermle universal/microcentrifuge rotors — those instruments use angle-rotor and swing-out geometries for density separations, while the SIEVA-3 + Z600-500-P combination is a filtration-mode setup.

Filter material (sold separately as Z600-S3-F* SKUs):

• Z600-S3-F7u — 7 µ pore size (finest; for fine-particulate retention)
• Z600-S3-F20u — 20 µ pore size
• Z600-S3-F30u — 30 µ pore size
• Z600-S3-F50u — 50 µ pore size (coarsest; for larger crystallizate or biomass)

Filter material is supplied in package units of 10 filters per pore-size SKU. Pore-size selection drives separation performance: smaller pore retains finer particles but lengthens filtration time and increases cake-formation resistance.

Alternative basket variants (sold separately):

• Z600-500-NP — non-perforated 500 mL basket (retains both phases for collected-volume separations rather than driving liquid through)
• Z600-S3-PC — perforated basket with SafeCoat 778 special coating for aggressive solvent compatibility (use when standard stainless-steel chemical resistance is insufficient)

Workflow Notes

Ordering pattern: a typical first-time SIEVA-3 install includes the chassis (Z600-S3 or one of its variants), at least one Z600-500-P basket, and at minimum two pore-size packs of filter material to characterize separation behavior across the workflow's particulate range. Multiple pore sizes are usually ordered together so the operator can validate cake formation and retention performance during method development.

Spare basket inventory: facilities running multi-product workflows often stock two or three baskets so a basket can be in cleaning while another is in production — basket changeover is straightforward but cleaning between aggressive-solvent products requires dedicated turnaround time.

Safety: centrifugal baskets at 10,000 rpm with a fully loaded filter cake have non-trivial inertia. Hermle's RFID rotor identification (active across the Z-series) and the SIEVA-3 chassis's active imbalance shut-off are the safety-critical systems — but the basket itself must be inspected before each cycle for cracks, corrosion, or filter-fit issues. Visual inspection through the SIEVA-3's transparent lid during the early acceleration phase is part of the standard operating procedure.

Ordering & Configuration

Z600-500-P ships as the basket only. Filter material, chassis, and any specialty-coating accessories are separate SKUs.

At $11,722, this is a capital-grade accessory line item. Use the quote request to confirm: SIEVA-3 chassis variant the basket pairs with, filter-pore-size pack quantities for the initial order, whether SafeCoat-coated alternative (Z600-S3-PC) is more appropriate for the solvent profile, and lead time for filter-material restocking once the workflow is in production.

Warranty: 5-Year Hermle warranty (3 years full + 2 years drivetrain). Basket carries warranty against manufacturing defect; filter material is a consumable.

Cost note: the Z600-500-P basket is roughly 70% of the SIEVA-3 chassis price. This is normal for filtration-centrifuge systems — the basket is the working part of the instrument; the chassis spins the basket. When budgeting a SIEVA-3 install, plan for chassis + basket + initial filter inventory as a combined line.
