The MR9600-420 is the 420 nm wavelength filter for the Accuris MR9600 SmartReader 96, single-wavelength interference filter at 420 nm visible-range wavelength. The 420 nm wavelength is the standard absorbance wavelength for beta-galactosidase ONPG (o-nitrophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside) hydrolysis assay, the workhorse reporter-gene activity assay for lacZ-based reporter constructs in molecular biology and gene-expression workflows.

The 420 nm wavelength is standard for lacZ-reporter activity quantification via ONPG hydrolysis. Beta-galactosidase encoded by the lacZ gene hydrolyzes ONPG (colorless) into galactose plus o-nitrophenol (yellow, λ_max 420 nm). The 420 nm absorbance signal scales with beta-galactosidase enzyme activity, useful for:
