The MR9611 is the UV-Vis microplate reader with an integrated cuvette port in the Accuris SmartReader line. It carries the same full 200–1,000 nm UV-Vis absorbance capability as the MR9610 — same xenon flash lamp, same wavelength accuracy and bandwidth, same 6- to 384-well plate-format support — and adds a single-sample cuvette port for the workflows that don't fit a microplate format. This is the spec for labs that run both microplate-scale assays and occasional single-sample work (cuvette-format spectroscopy, NanoDrop-class nucleic-acid quantification, kinetic single-sample reads) and want one instrument rather than two.

Application Profile
ELISA and microplate-format absorbance assays. Same applications as the MR9610 — chromogenic ELISAs (TMB, OPD, ABTS), protein assays (BCA, Bradford, Lowry), nucleic-acid quantitation in microplate format at 260 / 280 nm.
Microvolume nucleic-acid quantitation via cuvette port. The cuvette port handles standard 1 cm path-length cuvettes for routine A260/A280 nucleic-acid concentration and purity assessment without a separate dedicated instrument.
Kinetic single-sample reads. Enzyme kinetics, color-development time-courses, and any workflow where a single cuvette is the sample format rather than a microplate well.
UV-spectrum scans. Full 200–1,000 nm scanning (with appropriate UV-transparent cuvettes) for protein and nucleic-acid characterization, dye-conjugate assessment, and reference-spectrum recording.
Cell-based UV-Vis. Cell-density (OD600) reads for bacterial and yeast culture monitoring, in either microplate format or cuvette-format from culture aliquots.
Multi-format core facilities. When a lab serves both microplate-scale screening workflows and occasional single-sample spectroscopy from one shared instrument, the MR9611 covers both rather than requiring users to walk between two readers.
Design Architecture
High-energy xenon flash lamp as the excitation source — single source for both microplate and cuvette modes. Long flash-lamp lifespan vs continuous xenon arc.
Photodiode detector — wide dynamic range, fast response, low noise across the 200–1,000 nm spectrum. Optimal for absorbance measurements; the MR9620 multimode adds a PMT detector for fluorescence and luminescence sensitivity.
Integrated cuvette port — the workflow distinction from the MR9610. Single-sample reads share the lamp and detector chain with microplate reads but use a dedicated cuvette holder geometry. Cuvette format reads run independently of microplate workflow scheduling — the operator can interrupt a plate-read protocol to do a quick cuvette read.
Touchscreen on-instrument operation. Protocols programmed and reads launched directly without requiring a tethered PC. PC connection available for data export and centralized data management.
Wavelength scanning capability. Full-spectrum 200–1,000 nm scans in 1 nm steps (rather than fixed-wavelength reads) — important for nucleic-acid purity assessment (260/280, 260/230 ratios) and protein characterization workflows.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the wavelength range of the MR9611? Full UV-Vis absorbance from 200 to 1,000 nm, on 6-well through 384-well plates — the same optical capability as the MR9610.
What does the cuvette port add? An integrated single-sample cuvette read for workflows that don't fit a microplate format — NanoDrop-class A260/A280 nucleic-acid quantitation, kinetic single-sample reads, and cuvette-format UV-spectrum scans — without a separate instrument.
How does the MR9611 differ from the MR9610? The MR9610 ($16,534) covers 100 % microplate workflows. The MR9611 ($17,577) adds the cuvette port for labs whose portfolio includes even occasional single-sample cuvette work.
Are cuvettes included with the MR9611? No. Order standard 1 cm path-length cuvettes per workflow (UV-transparent for sub-340 nm work, polystyrene or polypropylene for visible-only).
Ordering & Configuration
Standard configuration. The MR9611 ships with the instrument, 115 V power cord, operator's manual, and packaging materials (retain for service-return shipping). Cuvettes are not included — order standard 1 cm path-length cuvettes (UV-transparent for sub-340 nm work, polystyrene or polypropylene for visible-only) per workflow.
Voltage variants:
- MR9611 — 115 V plug (this SKU)
Compatible accessories (shared with MR9610):
- MR9610-SDP — SmartDrop Accessory Plate (microvolume nucleic-acid quant in microplate format — alternative to the cuvette port for sub-µL volumes)
- MR9610-PC — SmartReader UV-Vis PC Software
- MR9610-CAL — Calibration plate
Use the quote request to specify: voltage and plug type, whether SmartDrop accessory plate is needed (for sub-µL nucleic-acid workflow), PC software requirement, calibration-plate inclusion, and training / on-site validation. Confirm cuvette format compatibility against your existing cuvette inventory.
Warranty: Manufacturer's standard Accuris warranty applies. Service, calibration validation, and lamp replacement available through the Accuris service network.
MR9610 vs MR9611 selection: the MR9610 at $16,534 is the right pick when 100 % of workflow is microplate-format. The MR9611 at $17,577 — about $1,000 premium — earns its slot when even occasional single-sample cuvette workflow is part of the lab's portfolio. For three-mode capability (absorbance + fluorescence + luminescence) on top of multi-format support, step up to MR9620.
