Compatibility & When to Order This SKU

This SKU is the rectangular bucket only. Order Z496-1000-RBUK when at least one of the following applies:

1. You're commissioning a Z496-1000-AC (rotor body without buckets) and need to add buckets. Order 2 units of this SKU to assemble a complete 4-bucket configuration.
2. You're adding bucket capacity to an existing Z496-K install, for example, expanding from a sealed-bucket biosafety configuration on the existing rotor to a second open-bucket configuration for non-biosafety workflows.
3. Replacement buckets. If a current bucket is damaged or has reached service life, this 2-pack provides replacement units.
4. Spare bucket inventory. Facilities running cleanings between aggressive-solvent runs sometimes maintain spare bucket inventory so a bucket can be in cleaning while another is in use.

For a new Z496-K install, the more efficient path is to order Z496-1000 (rotor + 4 buckets bundled, $8,925) rather than Z496-1000-AC + 2 × Z496-1000-RBUK ($4,872 + $5,386 = $10,258). The bundled SKU saves the $1,300+ delta and the procurement complexity of multiple line items.

Compatibility: Rotor Body and Chassis

Rotor body compatibility: Z496-1000-AC only. The Z496-1000-RBUK rectangular buckets are engineered for the Z496-1000-AC rotor body's bucket-mounting geometry. Not interchangeable with Z446 / Z327 / Z366 / Z032-HK rotor bodies, which use different bucket geometries.

Assembled chassis compatibility: Z496-K family. Once the buckets are installed on the rotor body and the assembly is mounted on the chassis, the assembled rotor + bucket fits the Z496-K (Floor-Standing) and Z496-K-UC (Underbench) chassis. Both Z496-K variants are 230 V only.

Workflow Notes

Microplate-direct loading. The defining feature of the rectangular bucket profile, standard microplates (96-well or 384-well, SBS footprint) load directly into the bucket without a microplate adapter. This is more space-efficient than the microplate-adapter approach used in round-bucket rotors and supports higher per-cycle plate count in the 4-bucket Z496 configuration.

Bucket weight. The empty rectangular bucket is non-trivial in mass; the assembled rotor + 4 buckets at the rectangular-bucket maximum of 4,200 rpm runs at substantial inertia. The chassis's RFID-aware imbalance shut-off is calibrated for the assembled configuration; pre-balancing bucket pairs by weight (with samples loaded) is operator responsibility before each spin.
