The 100 bp ladder covers the most common DNA-fragment size range in molecular-biology workflows:
If a lab can only stock one DNA ladder, the 100 bp ladder is the right choice for the broadest workflow coverage. Sister 50 bp (PR4005) is the right pick for finer-resolution short-amplicon work; 1 kb (PR4100) is for larger-fragment work.
