The Yamato AC-505 is a 55-inch, two-glove anaerobic chamber for single-operator work, wired for 115–120 V / 60 Hz service. It creates and holds an oxygen-free atmosphere using any inert gas, purged through a molecular-sieve drying train and a separate transfer chamber so samples move in and out without breaking the internal atmosphere. Built and shipped as a complete system, it needs only your choice of gas and your samples to begin anaerobic culture, biochemistry, or O2-sensitive materials work.

Application Profile

Obligate anaerobes, oxygen-sensitive enzymes, and reactive materials all demand an atmosphere that stays anaerobic through routine handling — not just at setup. The Yamato AC-505 builds that atmosphere with two vacuum diaphragm pumps, one dedicated to the molecular-sieve drying train and one to purging the transfer chamber, so the main chamber's atmosphere is never disturbed when material enters or leaves. Four ground key-cock valves and an adjustable transfer-chamber vacuum gauge give the operator direct control of each purge cycle, and self-sealing quick disconnects let the drying train be swapped without breaking containment.

The 489 L working volume and single glove pair suit one researcher running microbiology, biochemistry, plasma-environment, animal-science, or electronic sub-assembly work. Molecular sieve in the drying train absorbs residual moisture and is easily rejuvenated in an oven, keeping running costs low, and the 40,000-hour "Bright Light" illumination keeps the workspace visible for long sessions. Because it manual-purges, the AC-505 is the economical choice where the operator is comfortable running the purge sequence by hand; the AC-505A adds one-touch automatic purging when that manual step is undesirable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many operators and gloves does the AC-505 support? It is a single-operator chamber with one pair of white ambidextrous hypalon gloves (two glove ports).

What voltage does the AC-505 use? 115–120 V at 60 Hz, drawing 10 A. The AC-515 is the equivalent chamber configured for 220–240 V / 50 Hz.

Is this a manual or automatic purge chamber? Manual purge — the operator runs the purge sequence using the key-cock valves and vacuum gauge. For one-touch automatic purging, see the AC-505A.

What gas does it use? Any inert gas of your choice (for example nitrogen or an anaerobic gas mixture). The unit ships as a complete system; you add only the gas and your samples.

How is the internal atmosphere protected when moving samples in and out? Through a dedicated 12" transfer chamber with its own vacuum pump and self-sealing quick disconnects, so the main chamber atmosphere is not disturbed during transfers.

How large is the work space? Inside dimensions are 41 × 28 × 26 in (1040 × 710 × 660 mm), a 17.3 cu ft / 489 L working volume.

Ordering & Configuration

The AC-505 is quote-based capital equipment. Add it to your quote and our team will confirm current pricing, gas and glove options, and lead time. It ships crated as a complete system (~450 lbs); plan for an inert-gas supply on delivery.

Warranty: Per Yamato standard terms. Safety: Never use in a flammable or explosive gas atmosphere, and never introduce explosive or flammable materials.

Positioning: The Yamato AC-505 is the 115 V single-operator manual-purge anaerobic chamber — the value choice for one researcher. Pick the AC-515 for 220–240 V service, the AC-505A for one-touch automatic purging, or the AC-706 four-glove chamber when two operators need to share the workspace.
