The Accuris myVolt Touch Power Supply is a mid-tier programmable electrophoresis power supply — 300 V max output, capacitive touch-screen control, with constant-voltage / constant-current dual modes and automatic crossover protection for protocol-grade electrophoresis workflows. The myVolt Touch supports 4 pairs of output jacks (wired in parallel) for multi-tank operation, and uses a dual-orientation auto-rotating display (horizontal or vertical bench placement) with folding-foot recesses for stacking 2 units — engineered for bench-space-constrained labs that need touch-screen programmable PSU functionality without committing to floor-print research-grade PSU capital.

Voltage options: This unit can be ordered with European voltage requirements (230V/50Hz). Contact us to order.

Constant Voltage / Constant Current Modes — Why It Matters

The myVolt Touch operates in either CONSTANT VOLTAGE or CONSTANT CURRENT mode (operator-selectable). The non-constant parameter is set as a limit — the PSU outputs the constant parameter, and the non-constant parameter floats up to the configured limit.

ModeWhat's constantWhat floatsUse case
Constant VoltageVoltage (operator-set)mAmp current (up to set limit)Standard electrophoresis runs where voltage is the operator-controlled parameter
Constant CurrentmAmp current (operator-set)Voltage (up to set limit)Protocol-grade runs where current is the controlled parameter for reproducibility (e.g., precise band-migration timing across runs)

Automatic crossover protection. If during a run the non-constant parameter (the limit) is met due to load resistance changes (e.g., buffer concentration drift), the PSU automatically crosses over so the non-constant parameter becomes the new constant and limiting parameter. A red outline appears around the new "constant" value. This protection prevents over-voltage / over-current damage to the gel tank and electrodes.

Maximum power limit (100 W). Per Ohm's law, Power (W) = Current (I) × Voltage (V). The myVolt Touch limits total output to 100 W; if the load conditions push toward this limit, the PSU displays "PWR LMT" and limits the non-constant parameter to prevent exceeding the maximum power output. Most standard electrophoresis buffer concentrations do not approach this limit, but the protection prevents damage in low-resistance fault conditions.

Multi-Tank 4-Pair Output Operation

The myVolt Touch's 4 pairs of output jacks are all wired in parallel — every connected gel tank sees the same output voltage and current simultaneously. That supports a single-tank standard workflow, 2-tank parallel runs (e.g. paired control and experimental gels), and 3- or 4-tank parallel runs for high-throughput screening or multi-protocol workflows that share one voltage / current setting.

Total power constraint applies across all tanks. The 100 W max power limit applies to the sum of all output jacks — running 4 tanks pulls 4× the per-tank current at the set voltage. Plan workflow voltages to keep total power below the limit.

E2100 vs E2301 — Pick the Right Tier

E2100 myVolt MiniE2301 myVolt Touch (this product)
Output voltage100 VDC or 200 VDC (fixed)10–300 VDC continuous (1 V increments)
Output current(unspecified, fixed-output tier)4–400 mA continuous (1 mA increments)
Max power(entry-tier — not power-rated in spec)100 W
Output jacks2 (parallel)4 pairs (parallel)
Control modeVoltage selectorCapacitive touch screen, constant V / constant I, auto-crossover

List price$273$697

Pick the myVolt Touch (E2301) when:

  • Continuous voltage / current control is required for the workflow
  • Constant-current mode matters for protocol reproducibility
  • 3+ gel tanks need to run in parallel (the Mini's 2-jack design is insufficient)
  • Bench-space stacking / dual-orientation and touch-screen control fit the operator workflow

Pick the myVolt Mini (E2100) when: budget-tier fixed-voltage workflows are sufficient (see E2100 page for detail).

Application Profile

Protocol-grade electrophoresis workflows — labs running standardized electrophoresis protocols where constant-current mode supports reproducibility across runs.

Multi-tank high-throughput electrophoresis — facilities running 3–4 gel tanks in parallel benefit from the 4-pair output jack design.

Sensitive-resolution separations — workflows requiring continuous voltage tuning (e.g., 50 V long runs for high-resolution band separation, 150 V intermediate-rate runs) benefit from the 1 V increment programmability.

Method-development electrophoresis — protocol-development workflows where voltage / current optimization across runs benefits from the touch-screen programmable control.

Bench-space-constrained labs — labs benefit from the dual-orientation placement (horizontal or vertical) and stackable 2-unit design that fits the PSU into compressed bench layouts.

Multi-chassis electrophoresis facilities — sequencing cores, biotech R&D groups, and clinical-research labs running multiple electrophoresis protocols benefit from the protocol-grade PSU.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the output range of the E2301? 10–300 VDC in 1 V increments and 4–400 mA in 1 mA increments, with a 100 W maximum power.

How many gel tanks can it run at once? Up to 4 — it has 4 pairs of output jacks wired in parallel (the 100 W total power limit is shared across all connected tanks).

What is automatic crossover? If the limiting (non-constant) parameter is reached mid-run, the supply automatically switches that parameter to become the constant / limiting one, preventing over-voltage / over-current damage.

What voltage input does it need? Universal 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz — no separate voltage variant required.

How does the E2301 differ from the E2100 myVolt Mini? The E2301 offers continuous 10–300 V / 4–400 mA control, a touch screen, and 4 output pairs; the E2100 ($273) is a fixed-voltage 2-output entry unit.

Ordering & Configuration

Compatibility with gel tank chassis. The myVolt Touch works with any electrophoresis tank that accepts standard banana-plug electrical leads. Compatible with the Accuris myGel Mini (E1101) and myGel InstaView (E1200) gel-tank workflows, plus other mini and standard electrophoresis tanks with banana-plug input.

Universal input flexibility. The myVolt Touch's 100–240 VAC universal input supports both 115 V and 230 V outlets without a separate -E voltage variant. Confirm at quote which power-cord plug type the destination outlet requires (NEMA 5-15 for 115 V North America; UK BS 1363, Schuko, AS/NZS 3112 for 230 V international).

Confirm at quote: power-cord plug type, gel-tank chassis pairing, workflow voltage / current programming needs (constant V vs constant I, voltage range), multi-tank parallel-run intent, training requirements, and lead time.

Warranty: Per Accuris standard warranty terms — confirm at quote.

Accuris myVolt power-supply tier comparison:

- E2100 — myVolt Mini (entry-tier, 100 V / 200 V fixed, 2 outputs, $273)

- E2301 (this product) — myVolt Touch (mid-tier, 10–300 V / 4–400 mA continuous, 4 outputs, touch screen, $697)

Pick the myVolt Touch for protocol-grade continuous-control workflows; pick the myVolt Mini for budget-tier fixed-voltage workflows.
