The Z207-H is a purpose-built hematocrit centrifuge — a clinical workhorse whose job is one thing: spin 24 sealed capillary tubes at up to 13,000 rpm to separate packed red cells from plasma in microvolume blood samples. Hematocrit measurement remains a front-line clinical marker for anemia, polycythemia, dehydration, and overall erythrocyte screening, and the Z207-H is the instrument small-to-medium clinical labs and veterinary practices use to do the test on-site in minutes rather than sending samples out. Hermle-engineered, Benchmark-distributed, and compact enough to live on a crowded countertop without pushing other equipment off the bench.

Voltage options: This unit can be ordered with European voltage requirements (230V/50Hz). Contact us to order.

Application Profile

Hematocrit clinical testing. The Z207-H's 24-capillary hematocrit rotor is its defining feature — this is not a general-purpose centrifuge repurposed for capillaries. Fixed-angle capillary seats hold sealed 75 mm hematocrit tubes at the angle required for a clean red-cell-to-plasma boundary reading against a hematocrit reader card.

Veterinary diagnostics. Small-animal practices use hematocrit as a fast anemia screen; the Z207-H's compact footprint and 13-second spin-up / spin-down keep sample-to-result turnaround under two minutes.

Point-of-care settings. Dialysis centers, blood banks, and some ICU-satellite labs use hematocrit as a rapid fluid-status indicator; the Z207-H's low noise and tight footprint fit adjacent-to-patient layouts.

Teaching hematology labs. Programs store up to multiple recall slots, so rotating students or shift-change technicians don't re-enter run parameters each time.

Design Architecture

EZ-Scroll touch-pad control. The EZ-Scroll pad replaces a mechanical dial with capacitive-touch adjustment of speed, time, and accel/decel levels. Splash-proof and gloves-friendly. The large LCD keeps run parameters visible through the full cycle.

Electrical lid-lock with pre-selection of rotor type. Pre-selecting the rotor tells the microprocessor the maximum safe speed for that configuration; the Z207-H will refuse to exceed the capillary rotor's rated ceiling even if a higher rpm is entered.

Active imbalance identification and cut-off. If capillaries are loaded asymmetrically or one breaks mid-spin, the drive powers down before rotor excursion can damage the chamber or spray sample.

Air-cooling system keeps sample-chamber temperature near ambient — important for hematocrit because sample heating can distort packed-cell volume readings on long or rapid-repeat runs.

Sleep mode. After configurable idle time, the unit powers down non-essential subsystems to extend motor life and reduce standby energy — meaningful in 24-hour clinical environments where the centrifuge sits powered but unused most of the day.

Program memory. Storage of up to 99 saved runs including rotor type, recallable from the front panel.

Ordering & Configuration

Includes integrated rotor. Unlike most Hermle benchtops, the Z207-H ships with its purpose-built 24-capillary hematocrit rotor pre-installed — the rotor is integral to the product and is not separately ordered. The unit ships with operator's manual and power cord; capillary tubes are not included and are ordered separately as consumables.

Voltage variants: 230 V / 50-60 Hz model is available by special order.

Related within the Hermle benchtop line: If your lab needs the same 13,000+ rpm capability but for 1.5 / 2.0 mL microtubes instead of capillaries, the Z207-M Microcentrifuge shares the Z207-series chassis with a 24 × microtube rotor and 13,500 rpm / 17,317 × g ceiling. For general clinical separation of 15 / 50 mL blood tubes, see the Z206-A Compact Centrifuge.

Warranty & service: 5-Year Hermle warranty (3 years full + 2 years drivetrain). Rotor validation, balance checks, and North American service are available through the Benchmark / Hermle distributor network.
