The Z326-0685-25 is a 6-position fixed-angle rotor for 85 mL tubes at a 25° angle — the "super" angle variant in the Hermle Z326 / Z32-HK rotor catalog. The 25° angle distinguishes it from the standard Z326-0685 (which uses a 38° angle); the shallower angle changes the sample-distribution geometry against the tube wall during pelleting, which matters for separations where pellet morphology or wall-deposit characteristics affect downstream recovery. At 13,500 rpm / 20,984 × g, the Z326-0685-25 sits in the high-end of the Z326 family's RCF range; the 6-tube parallel throughput supports batch protein-pelleting and high-RCF clarification workflows.

Chassis compatibility — Z326 family + cross-compatible Z32-HK per the shared Hermle accessory catalog. Like all Z-series rotors, the Z326-0685-25 carries an RFID tag that the chassis reads at insertion; the drive applies the rotor's rated 13,500 rpm cap automatically.
25° angle vs 38° angle (Z326-0685). The Z326-family 6 × 85 mL angle-rotor catalog includes both angle variants — the choice between them depends on the pelleting profile the workflow needs. The shallower 25° angle distributes the sample more across the tube length during the spin (less concentrated wall deposit, more spread), while the steeper 38° angle of the Z326-0685 concentrates the pellet against a smaller wall area. For mixed-protocol workflows, both rotors are sometimes ordered together to give the operator both options.
Adapter library (sold separately, shared across Z326 85 mL angle rotors):
Adapters extend the 85 mL bucket fit to 50 mL, 30 mL, and 15 mL tube workflows on the same rotor body — useful for cores with mixed-volume protocols.
6 × 85 mL high-RCF bottle workflows at 20,984 × g — bacterial-cell-pellet recovery from 85 mL aliquots, post-lysis debris clarification, environmental sample particulate clearance.
Method development comparing 25° vs 38° pelleting profiles when the workflow is sensitive to pellet morphology (loose vs compact pellets, wall-deposit pattern, supernatant clearance after decant). The Z326-0685-25 + Z326-0685 pair lets the operator compare angle-rotor geometries on the same chassis.
6 × 50 mL high-RCF tube workflows via Z326-85-A50R or A50 adapters — when 50 mL conical or round-bottom is the workflow format.
Cold-chain protein-pelleting work when paired with a refrigerated Z326-K or Z032-HK chassis — the rotor's high RCF + chassis refrigeration delivers 4 °C protein pelleting at preparative scale.
6-tube symmetric loading. Use opposite pairs (positions 1+4, 2+5, 3+6); pre-balance each pair by weight before insertion. The chassis's RFID-aware imbalance shut-off catches asymmetric loads, but pre-balancing minimizes the false-trigger and shutdown-mid-spin risk.
Adapter consistency required across all 6 positions when using adapters — mixed-adapter loading produces asymmetric mass distribution.
Selectable accel/decel. The chassis's 10 acceleration / 10 deceleration profiles apply. The unbraked decel (1,407 sec extended profile per brochure) is useful for loose-pellet preservation.
Z326-0685-25 ships as the rotor body alone. Adapters and any specialty tube formats are sold separately.
Confirm at quote: chassis pairing (Z326 family or Z032-HK), adapter inventory needed for initial order, and whether the standard 38° Z326-0685 is also being ordered (paired procurement is common).
Warranty: 5-Year Hermle warranty (3 years full + 2 years drivetrain) on the rotor body. Includes balance validation through the Hermle service network.
25° vs 38° angle rotor selection: if your workflow doesn't have a documented angle-sensitivity (most protein-pelleting and routine clarification work doesn't), the standard Z326-0685 at 38° is the conventional pick — slightly higher RCF (21,726 × g vs 20,984 × g) and the more common angle for general use. The Z326-0685-25 (this product, 25°) earns its slot when the workflow specifically calls for the shallower-angle pelleting geometry.
