The Z206-0605 is the 6-position swing-out blood tube rotor for the Hermle Z206-A compact universal centrifuge — designed for 5 mL blood collection tubes at clinical / point-of-care throughput. The 0–90° swing-out geometry produces a flat sediment surface (rather than the angled pellet of a fixed-angle rotor), which is the preferred geometry for clinical-blood serum/plasma separation and for downstream aspiration of the clear supernatant phase. Z206-A only — engineered for the Z206-A spindle (not interchangeable with Z206 voltage-variant chassis or other Hermle families unless explicitly specified).

Chassis compatibility — Z206-A only. The Z206-0605 is engineered for the Z206-A compact universal centrifuge spindle. Confirm chassis match at order; the swing-out geometry depends on Z206-A chamber clearance.
Swing-out geometry — flat sediment surface. Unlike fixed-angle rotors that produce an angled pellet on the tube wall, the 0–90° swing-out delivers a flat sediment perpendicular to the tube axis. For blood-component separation, this means a flat serum/plasma–cell-pellet boundary — easier and more reliable for subsequent aspiration of the clear supernatant.
5 mL blood tube format. Standard 5 mL blood collection tubes (clinical Vacutainer-compatible) seat directly without adapters. Common tube formats: 5 mL serum-separator tubes (SST), 5 mL EDTA tubes, 5 mL heparin tubes — the workhorse formats for adult phlebotomy where 5 mL is sufficient sample volume.
1,896 × g maximum. Sufficient RCF for clinical serum/plasma separation per CLSI guidelines (typical clinical separation runs 1,000–1,500 × g for 10 minutes). The 1,896 × g ceiling sits comfortably above the protocol target with headroom.
Clinical and point-of-care blood-component separation — the primary use case. Separate serum from clot (SST tubes) or plasma from cells (EDTA / heparin tubes) for clinical chemistry, hematology prep, or immunoassay sample prep.
Physician office labs (POL) — the Z206-A + Z206-0605 combination is sized for the typical POL throughput of 6 patient samples per cycle, matching a typical patient block in office workflow.
Veterinary clinical practice — small-animal blood-component separation at clinical workflow scale.
Clinical-research recruitment — recruiting-phase studies that draw 5 mL collection tubes at moderate per-day volume; the swing-out geometry simplifies downstream aliquot prep.
Ambulatory and satellite-lab settings — where compact-bench footprint and 5 mL primary-collection format match the workflow.
6-position symmetric loading. Pair opposite positions (1+4, 2+5, 3+6) by tube mass. Empty tube + 5 mL sample mass is highly consistent across patient draws, so balance is straightforward in routine clinical use — but always confirm pair-mass before each spin.
Capping confirmation. Tubes must be fully capped (Vacutainer rubber stopper or screw cap) before spinning — uncapped tubes at 4,000 rpm risk sample aerosol and rotor contamination.
Adapter availability. For smaller blood tube formats (3 mL, 2 mL pediatric), adapters may be available through the Z206-A accessory catalog — confirm at order if pediatric formats are part of the workflow.
Z206-0605 ships as the rotor body with 6 swing-out buckets. Tubes are operator-supplied (commodity clinical phlebotomy supplies).
Confirm at quote: chassis pairing (Z206-A confirmed), tube format (5 mL standard; pediatric or other formats may need adapter), training (clinical-blood centrifugation protocols typical), and lead time.
Warranty: 5-Year Hermle warranty (3 years full + 2 years drivetrain) on the rotor body and buckets.
Z206-A blood-tube workflow:
- Z206-0605 (this product) — 6 × 5 mL swing-out for clinical / POC blood-component separation
- Z206-0650 — 6 × 50 mL angle rotor for higher-volume tube workflows on the same Z206-A chassis
Pick the 0605 swing-out for blood-component prep where flat-sediment geometry matters; pick the 0650 fixed-angle when the workflow uses 50 mL conical tubes for cell pellet recovery or larger-volume samples.
