The Z207-2420H is the 24-position hermetically sealed angle rotor for the Hermle Z207-M compact microcentrifuge, the BSL-2-capable variant of the standard Z207 microtube rotor family. The "H" suffix denotes the screw-on metal lid that creates a hermetic seal for aerosol containment during high-speed spinning of potentially infectious or aerosol-prone samples. Z207-M only, engineered specifically for the Z207-M chassis spindle and chamber (not interchangeable with Z207-A or other Hermle chassis families).

Chassis compatibility: Z207-M only. The Z207-2420H spindle interface is engineered for the Z207-M compact microcentrifuge. Not compatible with Z207-A (compact universal chassis) or any other Hermle chassis family, the rotor body and chamber geometry are specific.
Hermetic sealing: biosafety workflows. The screw-on metal lid creates a sealed rotor envelope for aerosol containment. BSL-2 + microtube workflows (clinical-research samples handling potentially infectious material, viral RNA extractions, bacterial culture aliquots) benefit from the sealed configuration. The hermetic seal is rated to the rotor's 13,500 rpm / 17,317 × g maximum.
24-microtube throughput. Symmetric 24-position layout. Pair opposite (positions 1+13, 2+14, etc.) by sample mass for balance.
Adapter library. Smaller-volume tubes are supported via the standard Z207/Z216 adapter family, 0.5 mL, 0.4/0.2 mL PCR formats. Confirm adapter ordering with the workflow's specific tube format at quote.
BSL-2 + microtube workflows on Z207-M: clinical-research, virology, bacteriology aliquot prep where aerosol containment is required.
Viral RNA / DNA extraction at BSL-2: extraction protocols that handle potentially infectious sample material (respiratory pathogens, hepatitis, HIV research) where the hermetic rotor reduces aerosol risk during the high-speed spin steps.
Bacterial culture aliquot processing. Pelleting bacterial cells from broth cultures for downstream extraction or QC, with hermetic containment.
Biobank aliquot prep with biosafety wrap. When patient samples flow from biosafety cabinet through centrifugation back to cabinet, the sealed rotor maintains the containment chain.
Forensic and clinical-research workflows with chain-of-custody requirements that include aerosol-containment specs.
24-position symmetric loading. Pair opposites by mass; small mass imbalances translate to substantial inertial asymmetry at 13,500 rpm. Pre-balance to within rotor tolerance.
Hermetic seal engagement. Per Hermle service instructions, the screw-on metal lid must be fully engaged and torqued to spec before each spin. Partial engagement will not maintain the hermetic seal at 17,317 × g.
Adapter consistency when using adapters across positions, all adapters in a balanced pair must be identical (both with the same adapter and same tube format) to maintain mass balance.
Selectable accel/decel. Z207-M chassis profiles apply; the unbraked extended-decel profile (118 sec) preserves loose pellets and density gradients.
Z207-2420H ships as the rotor body + hermetic-seal lid. Adapters for smaller-volume tubes are sold separately if needed.
Confirm at quote: chassis pairing (Z207-M), workflow biosafety level (confirms hermetic rotor is the right pick vs the non-sealed equivalent), training on hermetic-seal lid procedures, adapter inventory for smaller-volume formats, and lead time.
Warranty: 5-Year Hermle warranty (3 years full + 2 years drivetrain) on the rotor body and lid. The hermetic-seal interface is a planned-inspection item for biosafety workflows, Hermle's standard service interval recommendation includes the seal-integrity check.
