The Z207-3202 is the dedicated PCR-strip rotor for the Hermle Z207-M compact microcentrifuge — holding 4 × 8-tube PCR strips for 32 PCR-tube positions per cycle. The PCR-strip format (8-tube linear strips with attached or separable caps) is the dominant format for thermal-cycler PCR setup; the Z207-3202 spins strips between protocol steps to drive condensate to the bottom of the tubes, settle reaction mixes after vortex, and consolidate pellet material in cleanup steps. Z207-M only — engineered for the Z207-M chassis spindle and chamber geometry.

Chassis compatibility — Z207-M only. The Z207-3202 is engineered for the Z207-M compact microcentrifuge spindle. Confirm chassis match at order; PCR-strip rotors have specific spindle mate geometry per chassis family.
4 × 8 PCR-strip layout — 32 reactions per cycle. Four 8-tube strips loaded in dedicated radial positions. 32 PCR reactions per spin matches:
Standard PCR strip compatibility. Accepts industry-standard 0.2 mL 8-tube PCR strips from major suppliers — flat-cap, dome-cap, individually attached cap variants all seat in the strip positions. Confirm at order if the workflow uses non-standard strip dimensions.
PCR setup workflow — after assembling reagent + sample mixes in PCR strips on the bench, a brief spin in the Z207-3202 drives condensate and bubbles to the tube bottom before transferring to the thermal cycler. Eliminates wall-bound droplets that can produce inconsistent reaction volumes.
PCR cleanup and post-amplification consolidation — after thermal cycling, condensate accumulates on strip cap inner surfaces; a brief spin consolidates the entire reaction at the tube bottom for downstream pipetting (gel loading, qPCR analysis, sequencing prep).
qPCR plate-prep workflow — for qPCR runs on plate-format thermal cyclers, the 4-strip prep batch matches a quadrant of a 96-well plate; multiple Z207-3202 cycles can prep a full plate's worth of strip-format reactions.
Sequencing library prep — strip-format steps in NGS library prep workflows (Illumina, IonTorrent strip-format kits) — bead cleanup spins, end-repair and ligation reaction settling, post-PCR cleanup.
SNP genotyping and qPCR-based assay development — mid-throughput genotyping where strip-format reactions are the workhorse and per-cycle throughput of 32 reactions matches the experimental block size.
Mixed-protocol Z207-M setups — when the chassis runs both extraction (Z207-24SC spin column rotor) and amplification (Z207-3202 PCR-strip rotor) workflows, swapping rotors between protocol steps keeps both workflows on the same chassis.
4-strip symmetric loading. Pair opposite positions (positions 1+3 and 2+4) by total strip mass — strips loaded with reaction mix balance cleanly when reaction volumes are consistent across positions. For asymmetric reaction-volume runs (e.g., some positions with 25 µL reactions, others with 50 µL), pre-balance pairs by total mass.
Cap confirmation. Strip caps must be fully sealed before spinning — partially seated caps risk sample loss at 13,500 rpm and PCR reaction contamination from cross-position aerosol.
Strip orientation. Strips load in dedicated radial positions per the rotor's molded layout; strip orientation (cap-up vs cap-down) follows the rotor's design — verify on first use.
Selectable accel/decel. Z207-M chassis profiles apply; for delicate post-amplification consolidation, the brief standard-decel profile is typical (extended decel is rarely needed for PCR-strip workflows since reactions are already homogeneous).
Z207-3202 ships as the rotor body alone. PCR strips, caps, and reagents are operator-supplied (commodity molecular-biology consumables).
