The BM-110 is Yamato's entry-level analog water bath — a 4 L stainless tank with a dial-set, liquid-operated thermoregulator and a bar-thermometer readout. It is the 230V variant of the BM series 4 L bath (the 115V sibling is the BM-100). Built for routine benchtop water-bath heating where a controller display and digital PID are unnecessary: sample warming, reagent thawing, gentle constant-temperature incubation, and teaching-lab use on 230V/50Hz supply.

Application Profile

The 4 L analog bath is sized for single-user, routine constant-temperature work rather than production throughput:

  • Reagent and sample warming to physiological or set-point temperatures
  • Gentle thawing of frozen aliquots, media, and buffers
  • Constant-temperature incubation of small tube batches and reaction vessels
  • Enzyme and molecular-biology steps requiring stable sub-boiling water temperatures
  • Teaching laboratories where a rugged, low-cost, dial-set bath is preferred over digital instrumentation

With an operating ceiling of 95 °C (sub-boiling) and ±2 °C control at 60 °C, the BM-110 targets applications where broad stability, not tight uniformity, is the requirement.

Design Architecture

The bath uses a liquid-operated thermoregulator driving ON/OFF control of a 500 W SUS316 pipe heater — a proven, serviceable analog scheme with no digital controller to configure. Temperature is set by dial and read directly on a supplied bar alcohol thermometer. The stainless tank holds 4 L of water (Φ20 × 12 cm interior). A paddle power switch and power-on lamp complete the front controls, and the unit protects itself with an overcurrent fuse. After a power interruption, the bath resumes operation at its previous dial setting.

Because the BM series uses water as its medium, the practical ceiling is well below boiling; for higher-temperature or non-aqueous work, an oil bath (Yamato BOG/BOS or BO series) is the correct selection — see the water-bath-vs-oil-bath selection guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the tank capacity of the BM-110? 4 L, in a stainless tank measuring Φ20 cm × 12 cm deep; roughly 3 L is a typical working fill.

What temperature range does it cover? Room temperature +5 °C to 95 °C in operation (0 to 100 °C setting range), with ±2 °C accuracy at 60 °C. As a water bath its practical ceiling is sub-boiling.

How is temperature set and read? By a dial-set liquid-operated thermoregulator using ON/OFF control, read directly on a supplied bar alcohol thermometer — there is no digital controller to configure.

What voltage does it require? AC 230V ±10%, 50 Hz, 2.3 A. The 115V sibling is the BM-100; both are the same 4 L bath.

Can it run non-aqueous or above 100 °C? No — the BM series uses water only. For higher-temperature or non-aqueous work, choose a Yamato oil bath (BOG/BOS or BO-302A/312A).

Ordering & Configuration

In the box: bar alcohol thermometer (−10 to 110 °C), spare fuse, instruction manual, and guarantee card.

Confirm voltage. The BM-110 is the 230V/50Hz variant (2.3 A); order the BM-100 for 115V supply. Both are the same 4 L bath.

Fill with water only. The BM series is a water bath — roughly 3 L working fill is typical for the 4 L tank. Drain and dry the tank before extended storage.

A catalog-priced benchtop instrument; no quote gate. Confirm supply voltage matches the SKU (230V) at checkout.

Warranty: Per Yamato standard terms — guarantee card included.

Yamato BM analog water bath family:

- BM-100 — 4 L, 115V

- BM-110 (this product) — 4 L, 230V

For non-aqueous or >100 °C work, step to a Yamato oil bath (BOG/BOS glass or stainless, or BO-302A/312A 5 L).
