The IPS2050-P-T1 is the one-line PTFE (Teflon) propeller in the IPS2050 overhead stirrer accessory line — the chemical-resistant equivalent of the stainless steel IPS2050-P-S1 sister, sold at $172 ($62 premium over the $172.00 stainless version). Same axial flow pattern, different material: PTFE construction extends mixing-accessory chemistry compatibility to aggressive solvents, high-acid, high-base, and oxidizing chemistries that would corrode stainless steel.
| SKU | IPS2050-P-T1 |
| Type | One-line propeller, PTFE (Teflon) |
| Flow pattern | Axial flow (vertical movement through vessel) |
| Material | PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) — chemical-resistant for aggressive solvents, high-acid / high-base, oxidizing chemistry |
| Compatible chassis | IPS2050-20 / -20-E (OS-20L) and IPS2050-40 / -40-E (OS-40L) overhead stirrers |
| Mounting | Feed-through chuck on chassis — tool-less tightening / loosening |
| Stainless equivalent | IPS2050-P-S1 (one-line stainless, $172.00 — for aqueous / mild-solvent / neutral-pH workflows) |
| PTFE family sister SKUs | IPS2050-P-T2 (centrifugal), IPS2050-P-T3 (paddle w/flat holes), IPS2050-P-T4 (4-arm) |
| List price | $172 |
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, sold under the DuPont brand name Teflon) is the standard material for laboratory mixing accessories that must contact aggressive chemistries. Stainless steel — even 316L — corrodes when exposed to strong acids (HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 at concentration), strong bases (concentrated NaOH at elevated temperature), halogenated solvents (chloroform, dichloromethane in long-duration workflows), and oxidizing chemistries. PTFE is inert to nearly all common laboratory chemistries, making it the default escalation when stainless compatibility is uncertain or known-incompatible.
Pick the PTFE one-line propeller (IPS2050-P-T1) when:
Pick the stainless equivalent (IPS2050-P-S1) for aqueous / mild-solvent / neutral-pH workflows where the $62 PTFE premium is unjustified.
| Material | SKU | List price | Premium over stainless |
| Stainless steel | IPS2050-P-S1 | $172.00 | — |
| PTFE / Teflon (this product) | IPS2050-P-T1 | $172 | +$62 (~56% premium) |
The PTFE premium reflects manufacturing cost (PTFE is more expensive than stainless raw stock and harder to machine to dimensional tolerance).
| SKU | Geometry | Flow pattern | List price |
| IPS2050-P-T1 (this product) | One-line | Axial | $172 |
| IPS2050-P-T2 | Centrifugal | Radial | $172 |
| IPS2050-P-T3 | Paddle w/flat holes | Mixed turbulent | $172 |
| IPS2050-P-T4 | 4-arm | High-coverage axial-radial | $172 |
All four PTFE variants are priced identically — the geometry choice is a flow-pattern decision, not a cost decision.
Aggressive-solvent organic chemistry workflows — synthesis labs, organic-extraction workflows, halogenated-solvent purification at the 5–40 L vessel scale.
Strong-acid and strong-base formulation prep — pharmaceutical, industrial, and process-development workflows involving concentrated mineral acids or strong bases.
Oxidizing-chemistry workflows — chromic acid cleaning, peroxide-bearing reaction prep, hot concentrated nitric acid workflows.
Cosmetic and personal-care formulations with aggressive ingredients — surfactants, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and other reactive cosmetic ingredients.
Pharmaceutical excipient prep with reactive ingredients — certain semi-solid formulations, oxidizing-agent-bearing matrices.
Method-development workflows — protocol-development where chemical-resistance is part of method-validation requirements.
Multi-investigator shared chassis — facilities maintaining both stainless and PTFE propeller inventory for protocol-flexibility across mixed chemistry workflows.
Pair with chassis. Confirm OS-20L (IPS2050-20 / -20-E) or OS-40L (IPS2050-40 / -40-E) chassis inventory at order.
Pair with PTFE family for full chemical-resistance coverage. Labs running aggressive-chemistry workflows benefit from inventorying multiple PTFE geometries (-T1 axial, -T2 radial, -T3 mixed) for protocol-flexibility.
Confirm at quote: chassis pairing, sample-chemistry compatibility justification (stainless vs PTFE decision), workflow flow-pattern requirement, and lead time.
Warranty: Per Benchmark Industrial standard accessory terms — confirm at quote.
IPS2050 PTFE / Teflon propeller selection:
- IPS2050-P-T1 (this product) — One-line, axial flow — aggressive-chemistry particulate suspension
- IPS2050-P-T2 — Centrifugal, radial flow — aggressive-chemistry dissolution
- IPS2050-P-T3 — Paddle w/flat holes, mixed turbulent — aggressive-chemistry high-viscosity
- IPS2050-P-T4 — 4-arm, general-purpose — aggressive-chemistry workhorse
Pick the PTFE one-line propeller for axial-flow workflows in aggressive-chemistry conditions; stainless equivalent (IPS2050-P-S1) covers aqueous / mild-solvent workflows at lower price point.
