The IPD9600-10BS is the 10 mm stainless steel grinding ball consumable for the Benchmark Industrial IPD9600 BeadBlaster 96 Ball Mill Homogenizer — sold as 500 g bulk pack. Stainless steel grinding balls are the standard bulk bead consumable for bead-mill homogenization workflows where the operator loads beads into sample plates / tubes / jars per workflow protocol. The 10 mm bead size is appropriate for tougher tissue / bulk-sample homogenization where smaller (4 mm or below) beads provide insufficient kinetic energy.
| SKU | IPD9600-10BS |
| Type | Stainless steel grinding balls — bulk pack |
| Bead diameter | 10 mm |
| Material | Stainless steel |
| Pack quantity | 500 g (bulk weight; bead count depends on bead density and dimensions) |
| Compatible chassis | IPD9600 BeadBlaster 96 |
| Sister bead-size SKUs | IPD9600-25BS (25 mm stainless steel ball, each), IPD9600-10TCB (10 mm tungsten carbide ball, each) |
| Compatible plates / jars | 50 mL grinding jars (IPD9600-50S), 25 mL grinding jars (IPD9600-25S), tube adapters (IPD9600-50T 4×50 mL, IPD9600-1520 40×2 mL) |
Bead size selection per workflow protocol:
| Bead size | Best for |
| 2.5–4 mm | Microbial cells, soft animal tissue, plant tissue (lower kinetic energy needed) |
| 5–8 mm | Standard tissue homogenization (mid-range) |
| 10 mm (this product) | Tougher tissue, fibrous samples, larger sample volumes, jar-format homogenization |
| 25 mm (IPD9600-25BS) | Bulk-sample homogenization in 50 mL jars |
Stainless steel vs tungsten carbide:
The IPD9600-10BS pairs with multiple sample-vessel formats supported by the BeadBlaster 96 chassis:
| Sample format | Adapter / vessel | Bead-mill workflow |
| 50 mL grinding jars | IPD9600-50S (stainless steel jar, set of 2) | Bulk-sample / large-volume homogenization |
| 25 mL grinding jars | IPD9600-25S (stainless steel jar, set of 2) | Mid-volume homogenization |
| 4 × 50 mL tubes | IPD9600-50T (4×50 mL tube adapter) | High-throughput tube-format homogenization |
| 40 × 2 mL tubes | IPD9600-1520 (40×2 mL tube adapter, requires IPD9600-96) | Compact-format multi-tube homogenization |
For 96-well plate workflows, smaller bead sizes are typical (4 mm via IPD1196-40 prefilled plate); the 10 mm bead is generally jar / tube format.
Tough-tissue homogenization — fibrous animal tissue (muscle, ligament), tough plant tissue (woody material, fibrous fruits/vegetables), bone fragment grinding.
Bulk-sample homogenization in 50 mL jars — environmental samples (soil, sediment), forensic samples, food samples for QuEChERS prep.
Industrial / materials-science workflows — mineral grinding, polymer fragmentation, materials prep for analytical workflows.
Cannabis sample prep — homogenization of dried cannabis material for downstream extraction / testing.
High-throughput tube-format workflows — 4×50 mL or 40×2 mL tube workflows where 10 mm beads provide appropriate kinetic energy.
Method-development workflows — protocol-development workflows comparing bead-size effects on extraction yield.
Stainless steel grinding balls are reusable across multiple cycles with proper cleaning between samples. Service life depends on:
For single-use workflows (regulated forensic / clinical-research where bead reuse is contraindicated), the 500 g bulk pack provides per-cycle bead-quantity allocation across the workflow. For multi-use workflows in research labs, the bulk pack provides extended service-life supply.
Pair with chassis + sample vessel. Confirm IPD9600 BeadBlaster 96 chassis + appropriate sample-vessel format (jar / tube adapter / plate) at order.
Confirm bead-size match to workflow protocol. Workflow protocol may specify alternative bead sizes (4 mm, 25 mm, etc.) — verify before bulk procurement.
Pack consumption rate. 500 g bulk supports a substantial number of cycles (typical workflow uses 1-10 g of beads per cycle depending on sample-vessel format and bead count). Plan replenishment per workflow throughput.
Confirm at quote: chassis pairing (IPD9600 in inventory), workflow bead-size requirement, sample-vessel pairing (jars / tube adapters), workflow throughput, and lead time.
Warranty: Per Benchmark Industrial standard consumable terms — confirm at quote.
Benchmark Industrial IPD9600 BeadBlaster 96 grinding-ball family:
- IPD9600-10BS (this product) — 10 mm stainless steel grinding balls, 500 g pack
- IPD9600-25BS — 25 mm stainless steel grinding ball, each
- IPD9600-10TCB — 10 mm tungsten carbide grinding ball, each
Pick the IPD9600-10BS bulk pack for tough-tissue / bulk-sample / jar-format bead-mill workflows; step to tungsten carbide (IPD9600-10TCB) for hardest-sample workflows or to alternative bead sizes per workflow protocol.
